14th November 9 pm: Arrival of dignitaries:
Zenaida Farcon landed in Vijayawada airport along with Dr. Surjit Kaur. She was given a warm welcome by the District Chairman Sita Devi, IIW Treasurer Sarita Lunani, Emerald Jubilee Committee and the Club President
15th November 4 pm: Inauguration of the Jubilee Project:
Roof-top Solar Panel at Vasavya Children’s Home, Kanuru where 70 orphan girls are provided shelter. Cost of the eco friendly project Rs. 10 lakhs including renovation of the Home. The solar panel will save Rs. 20,000 electricity bill every month.
The ceremony began on the ground floor where the IIW President unveiled the curtains of the Project Inauguration Plaque in commemoration of the event.
Zenaida showed great agility as she ran up the stairs to the third floor where the solar panel was installed. She flicked on the solar breaker and started the working of the panel to the applause of the gathering.
Later, the dignitaries talked to the orphans to boost their morale and confidence. They encouraged the girls to do well both in academics as well as in vocational training.
All the honoured guests were presented with beautiful select saris to be worn the next day for the Jubilee Celebrations. At 5 pm., they were taken to Lemon Tree Premier where their stay as well as the function had been arranged.
16th November 12:15 noon: Esme’ Emerald Jubilee of IWC Vijayawada:
The entrance foyer had a posters exhibition of the excellent projects undertaken by the clubs in the District. It was a meticulous display of the efforts of the clubs in the cause of Inner Wheel. Buffet lunch was provided in the banquet hall for the 248 Inner Wheel members who attended the event.
The dignitaries enjoyed a la carte lunch exclusively. Photo session with the IIW President and the other honoured guests was conducted for all the 25 clubs. The host club members draped in emerald green silks were a feast to the eye.
The main event held in the conference hall began with the recital of the Philippines National Anthem followed by the Indian National Anthem.
The meeting was called to order by host club President G. Kiranmay and PP Rani Sivaji rendered the Inner Wheel Prayer. Welcome with a ring dance by JYN Ambika enthralled the audience. Next was lighting the lamp with the traditional prayer sung by D. Kalyani. The dignitaries were called on to the dais and DC Sita Devi gave the opening remarks.
MG Awardee and the convenor of the 55th Anniversary Celebrations PDC G Rashmi Samaram warmly welcomed the colourful gathering. PDC V Sridevi introduced the Association President followed by Dr. Surjit Kaur’s befitting message. PDC Y Padmaja introduced the IIW Treasurer Sarita Lunani who conveyed her message in her unique style with clever anecdotes. IIW President Zenaida Farcon’s illustrious introduction was given by PDC Y Manjula. The Chief Guest extolled the infinite value of the exquisite emerald vis-á-vis IWC Vijayawada and its immense contribution to society in its journey of 55 years. She presented Club President Kiranmayi with an IW pin and flag.
‘Zing with Zeny’, a lively chat show with IIWP Zenaida Farcon was conducted by IIWT Sarita Lunani. The audience enjoyed the witty repartee. The Jubilee Souvenir was presented for release by PDC Y Manjula and the IWC Vijayawada Website by PDC J Maniprabha. The IIW President graciously performed both the honours. The dignitaries were highly impressed with the work of PDC J Maniprabha and her expertise in computers. A history of IWC Vijayawada was recounted by PDC G Sakala after which a documentary of the club was screened.
All the Past Presidents present were felicitated with an emerald and pearl necklace and an attractive potli bag by the chief guest. A rare honour indeed! IIW President Zenaida was felicitated by AP Dr. Surjit Kaur, IIWT Sarita Lunani, DC Sita devi, and PDCs Vijayasree Gupta, Y Manjula, and V Sridevi with custom made citation, shawl, emerald necklace, and potli. A portrait of President Zenaida was made by IWC Vijayawada member Reshma Jelly and the painting was presented to the chief guest. Thereafter all the honoured guests were felicitated.
Margarette Golding Awardee PDC G Rashmi Samaram was honoured for being the recipient of such a coveted, prestigious award by the four dignitaries. PDC Y Manjula received the Honoured Active Member pin from the IIW President after which the District and club members felicitated her. AC Member P Yasoda gave the vote of thanks and the Club President Kiranmayi formally adjourned the event. The Master of Ceremonies for the occasion were PP B Nagaprasuna and PP B Sujatha who compered the entire proceedings smoothly.
