INNER WHEEL CLUB OF VIJAYAWADA

In the year 2017-2018, V. Sridevi from IWC of Vijayawada was the District Chairman. ‘Leave a Lasting Legacy’ was the IIW theme given by IIW President Dr. Kapila Gupta from India. Association President Patricia Hilton hails from the picturesque city of Dehradun. The District Events in the year of V. Sridevi’s Chairmanship are:
• Club Officers Training Institute ‘Sri Siksha’ along with TEACH Level 2 Seminar ‘Sri Vidya’.
• Assembly ‘Shubh Aarambh’ on 02-07-2017 hosted by IWC of Vijayawada Midtown.
• Rally ‘Sitara’ on 15-10-2017 hosted by IWC of Vizianagaram.
• Zonal Meet ‘Sri Sangamam’ clubbed with TEACH Level 3 Seminar ‘Sri Lipi’.
• Conference ‘Samyukta’ on 10-02-2018 hosted by IWC of Vijayawada. During the year, 4 inactive clubs were closed while 2 new ones were formed with a final tally of 26 clubs.
• IWC of Parvathipuram with Charter President P. Jyothi Lakshmi and an inaugural membership of 15.
• IWC of Salur Queens with Charter President Sobha Rani and an inaugural membership of 68.
Significant Projects and Happenings:
• Hosted the 2nd A. C. Meeting by IWC of Vijayawada.
• Literacy Promotion under TEACH Program: A national record of 80 Happy Schools were inaugurated.
• Achievement Award for BFW Celebrations at the national level. Membership Growth by 128 members.
• Special recognition at the national level for a new club with highest inaugural membership (68).
• 111 cataract surgeries were undertaken, and eye camps were conducted at 50 municipal schools.
• SUBALA – ‘Women with beauty and strength’ with 5 diverse areas of service was the core project.
• Construction and renovation of adopted old age homes in the District.
• Obtained District Pan Card. Translated Association Byelaws into Telugu for the benefit of clubs.
• Promotion of Animal Care to balance eco system.
• Encouraged joint programs among clubs and participated in Golden Jubilees of 3 clubs in the District.
• 40 members from the District attended IIW Formation Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Varanasi.
• Attended IIW Convention 2018 at Melbourne and exchanged flags with international delegates.
